You sent the wrong document. Now what?

With ordinary email, nothing. With FINIS, access ends the moment you say so.

The situation

Sending the wrong file, or the right file to the wrong person, is the most common document accident there is. Recall features in email clients rarely work, and never work outside your own organisation.

Because a FINIS document is opened through a controlled link rather than downloaded as an attachment, the sender can end access at any point. The recipient's next attempt to open it fails, and the time access ended is recorded.

What to do

1. Open the document in FINIS

Find it in your sends.

2. Revoke, or destroy

Revoke ends access. Destroy erases the file.

3. Check the history

See whether it was opened before you acted.

The FINIS capabilities involved

Revoke

One click removes the document from everyone who has the link — instantly, permanently, and on the record.

Destroy

Not 'access revoked'. The file is erased, and the destruction is on the record.

Track

Every open, every recipient, every timestamp — in one history you can show to someone else.

Questions

What if they opened it already?

The history shows exactly when, so you know what you are dealing with — and access still ends from that point.

Can I fix this for an email attachment?

No. This only works for documents sent through FINIS.
